Ah, what a journey it has been since the ‘birth’ of our Production House, SHILPKAR” all the way back in 1970!

Started as a fledgling company on borrowed capital and little knowledge, the maiden venture of our company was the film, DIL AUR MOHABBAT starring Joy Mukherjee, Sharmila Tagore and Ashok Kumar. Music was by the then top music maestro O.P. Nayyar.

Being new to the business, the task of completing the film was not just daunting and uphill, but at times slippery as well. There were pitfalls galore. We groped our way through unknown territory… Problems had this uncanny habit of hitting us at unexpected moments. Nerve racking tensions were the norm. We thanked God when we had a good day. Yet, the desire to succeed, to complete the film, to release it, superseded all else. We completed the film, released it…achieved our first milestone as a film maker.

The journey had begun. Bitten by the film bug, I could not stop. And as they say, fortune favours the brave. The next production featured none other than the first Superstar of Hindi Cinema…Rajesh Khanna, with Tanuja in MERE JEEVAN SAATHI. The incomparable R.D. Burman composed some of his best songs for this film. Till date “O Mere Dil Ke Chain” remains the hot favourite amongst all music lovers.

From here on there was no looking back. Film making had become a passion. We wanted to deliver entertaining films to our audience. We did just that… across all genres – romance, action, drama, western, horror… We did them all. Kaala Sona, Dhan Daulat, Hotel, Zalzala, Jaal The Trap…

We were also fortunate enough to have been associated with the best actors, writers, music directors, technicians from the world of Hindi cinema.

It is now time to infuse new blood into the company. Now is also the time to bring in a younger generation with its fresh approach, new ideas, newer marketing strategies, better production design to cater to the ever evolving world of Hindi Cinema. Keeping this in mind.
